Dirty Rotten, No Good, Very Bad Day

I used to think that it was absolutely impossible to have a bad day working here. I mean it's Disney World! What could ever be bad?

Wrong.

You can have really bad days at Disney World.

For starters it rained on me.. Twice. And not just a little sprinkle. Downpour. But I really wasn't too worried about that.

Then the Coaster broke down THREE times today.

I somehow managed to have a shift with all the grumpiest cast members, and managers. Do you know how hard it is to stay positive when you're surrounded by only negative people?

Although, they weren't all bad; two of my managers came up to me today and told me they loved my presence around the store and that no one would know that I just started. And I can close down registers now, which also impressed them!

But I did have three guests in particular who managed to make my entire day.

First, a little girl smashed her finger in a Squeeze Breeze and was crying. At this point I've been around little kids enough to know that it didn't really hurt that bad, it just scared her more than anything. So I went up to her and told her I had something special but she had to close her eyes so it didn't hurt them.
I told her Tinkerbell heard her crying and she came to see what was wrong, and that she gave me some pixie dust to make it better.

Instantly stopped crying. It was amazing.

Then, I had a couple who came to look at their photo. They had been coming to WDW for 20 years and she LOVED their photo, and he hated it, and, like most husbands, didn't want to spend the money on the photo.
She finally decided that she was going to spend the money because she always wanted one. So, I printed her photo and told her that it was free of charge for her.

You would have thought I bought them a car.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone so excited. She told me yesterday was their 36th anniversary, and she really appreciated the photo.

But by far my favorite moment since I got to Disney World was, after the coaster went down a 3rd time, a man and his daughter came up to me and said that was the 2nd time it broke down while they were in line and they wouldn't be able to stay to see if it was going to run again. The little girl was crying and told me all about her horrible day and everything that had gone wrong.

I walked them over to the attractions workers and got them fast passes for the next day then I walked over and got her a magical moments card and filled it out with her name (Princess Sarah) and I told her it was just because she was my favorite person in the park and I would save her a special spot for when she came to ride the ride tomorrow. She stopped crying and ran up and hugged me. It made my entire bad night better, and hers, too.

Lesson learned: You may have dirty rotten, no good, very bad days at Disney World, but at the end of the day, it really is still the most magical place on earth.
